Our 9-hole picturesque parkland East Course is comprised of the original back 9 holes and will be familiar to most Basingstoke golfers. It provides an attractive and shorter challenge as a par 35 of 2856 yards from the back tees and 2533 yards from the red tees. It starts with a par 3 and finishes with a par 5, providing a thoroughly enjoyable 9 holes of golf with a glorious view from the 16th tee to endure especially.
The course is a challenging layout but very much playable for all standards of player, from the occasional golfer to the single figure handicapper, with generous tree line fairways and small fast greens.
The signature hole of this 9 is the 6th hole which has been described as 'postage stamp' size for playing just 122 yards from the back tees. However with the green surrounded by bunkers and trees in close proximity, hitting your target on this diminutive hole is no mean feat.
Slope Rating and Handicap Tables - East Course Open or Close
A USGA Course Rating is the evaluation of the playing difficulty of a course for scratch golfers under normal course and weather conditions. It is expressed as strokes taken to one decimal place, and is based on yardage and other obstacles to the extent that they affect the scoring ability of a scratch golfer.
A Slope Rating evaluates the relative playing difficulty of a course for players who are not scratch golfers. The lowest Slope Rating is 55 and the highest is 155. A golf course of standard playing difficulty has a Slope Rating of 113.
Course ratings are determined, by permission of the USGA, in accordance with the USGA Course Rating System™ for the purpose of providing a uniform basis of which to issue a Handicap Index.
